Use soy milk to make this smoothie lactose free — but it will also be delicious with whole, lowfat or nonfat milk. If you defrost the berries slightly, they’ll be soft enough to blend and cold enough to eliminate the need for ice. This recipe yields about 3 cups of smoothie (1 serving).
| 1 package | Earthbound Farm Frozen Organic Berry Basket Blend (10 oz) |
| 1 cup | milk (whole, lowfat or nonfat dairy milk or soy milk, or more to taste) |
| 3 tablespoons | frozen orange juice concentrate |
| 2 tablespoons | honey (to taste) |
Place the unopened package of frozen berries into a bowl of hot water for 5 minutes to defrost slightly.
Put 1 cup milk, orange juice and berries into a blender and blend until smooth. If the mixture is too thick, add more milk until you reach the desired thickness. Add honey to taste and blend again.
Healthy Addition: If you’re not lactose intolerant, you can give yourself a protein boost by adding 1 scoop (0.82 oz or 23.3 g) 100% whey protein powder to the blender with the liquids and berries.
