Apple Granola Crisp

In a hurry? Use pre-sliced apples and store-bought granola, and this dessert is a snap to put together. Granola blends with dried fruits and nuts work very well with apples. Perhaps we're partial, but we think this dish is especially tasty made with our Earthbound Farm Sliced Apples and either our Earthbound Farm Cranberry-Pecan Granola or Maple Almond Granola. (If you can't find it in your local market, you can order our granola online!)

16 ounces Earthbound Farm Organic Sliced Apples (or about 4 large whole apples)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 1/2 cups Earthbound Farm Organic Granola (or your favorite fruit & nut granola mix)
1/3 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
1/2 cup packed dark brown sugar
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter (melted)

Position a rack in the middle of the oven and preheat to 375 degrees F. Butter an 8-inch square baking pan and set aside.

Place the apple slices in a bowl and toss with the lemon juice. Transfer the slices to the prepared pan.

Add the granola, flour, cinnamon, allspice, and sugar to the bowl and mix well. Stir in the melted butter. Sprinkle the topping over the apples; don't pack it down.

Bake until the apples are tender and the juices have begun to bubble around the edges of the pan, about 30 minutes. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or custard sauce.
