Muesli ("little mush" in German) is a popular breakfast dish in Europe. It combines rolled oats with grated apples, dried fruits, nuts, and milk or yogurt. This raw cereal mixture can be customized to fit your palate, which is part of the fun in making it. In order for the oats to soften sufficiently, you need to make this dish at least 4 hours in advance of serving - make it at night, then refrigerate it so it's ready for breakfast. This is a healthy and very tasty way to start the day!
Place the oats, milk, raisins, cranberries, and cinnamon in a large bowl and stir to combine. Cover the bowl with a plate or plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
Before serving, stir in the yogurt, maple syrup, apples, nuts, sunflower seeds, and flax seeds. If the muesli is too thick, thin it with some milk or apple juice.
