What to Buy Organic: Apples
Apples are juicy, crunchy and amazingly healthy, too. So why is it important to choose organic apples? Three big reasons:
- They’re #1. On the Environmental Working Group’s “Shopper’s Guide to Pesticides in Produce,” that is — that’s the list of produce that has the most pesticide residues when grown conventionally. Organic apples help you avoid pesticides, and that’s especially important for kids.
- They’re great for your body. With only 80 calories, 0 grams of fat and 15% of the Daily Value for fiber, apples are a satisfying snack and a natural, guilt-free way to satisfy a sweet tooth.
- They’re better for the Earth. Our apples are grown without toxic synthetic chemicals, using farming methods that protect the environment and help keep pesticides out of our soil, air, water and food supply. Organic food is the healthiest choice for people and the planet — and we think organic apples taste better, too!
So put some organic apples in your grocery basket. Your body will thank you…and so will Mother Earth!
