Shop with a Greener Eye
One of the most powerful ways that we — as consumers — can change the marketplace is to “vote with our pocketbooks.”
And your grocery cart is no exception. When you shop with a greener eye, you’re choosing better food that’s better for the Earth, too!
Here are some great ways to green your shopping cart:
- Choose organic — especially for kids. Their growing bodies are much more vulnerable to environmental exposures, so it makes sense to choose certified organic food that’s produced without toxic synthetic chemicals. Check the Shopper’s Guide to Pesticides in Produce to help prioritize your choices.
- When you’re looking for seafood, use the Regional Seafood Watch Guides from the Monterey Bay Aquarium. They’ve broken it down by areas of the country (and sushi!) to help you make your best choices — check them out here. (There’s an app for that, too!)
- Put our 4Ps to work when you shop! Our Guide to Greener Shopping gives you 4 easy yet powerful principles to help you make your shopping cart count for the Earth. Download the PDF here (on your smartphone, go to www.ebfarm.com/greener-guide).
