Thank you for choosing organic! Kids' Quote Label Contest

We believe that organic is the healthiest choice for people and the planet. When people choose our organic salads, they’re helping us make a difference for future generations. So who better to say “thank you” than the kids whose future is at stake?

Our Kids’ Quote Label Contest is open to kids age 17 and under who want to thank people for choosing organic food to help protect the environment. To enter, finish the thought in 50 words or less:

Thank you for choosing organic--it matters to me because...

Winning quotes will appear on the new labels we’ve designed for our new post-consumer recycled salad containers. Winners will earn $500 for college and $500 to help protect the environment! The contest is open now through the end of 2009. Learn more on our contest page. Good luck!

WHAT’S HAPPENING

Ladybug on a head of romaine
Take a bug walk this Saturday

Join us outside this holiday weekend for a Bug Walk! Kids of all ages will follow our resident insect expert (and VP of Farming), Todd Kodet, into our Carmel Valley fields to learn why organic farmers rely on beneficial insects and help us release ladybugs, one of an organic farmer’s best allies. Beneficial insects work in home gardens, too, so this is also a great opportunity to ask questions. It’s a fun outing for the whole family!

Bug Walk — Saturday, July 4, 11am-Noon. $5 children 12 and under (includes goodie bag), adults free. Please wear sturdy field-walking shoes!

It's Our 25th Anniversary!
It's Our 25th Anniversary!

Earthbound Farm began with a 2.5-acre backyard garden full of heirloom raspberries and a little roadside stand, just down the road from where our Farm Stand sits today. From that small start, we’ve become the largest grower of organic produce in the country, and we want to share the benefits of organic food with as many people as possible.

Mark your calendar on Saturday, July 11, for our 25th Anniversary Celebration from 11am-3pm (free admission for all). It’ll be a day full of fun, family-friendly events for all ages — from farm tours, demos, and workshops to live music, our famous Earthbound Farm Bingo, salad tastings, games, train rides, and more. We hope you’ll join us!

For more information, call the Farm Stand at (831) 625-6219 ext. 11, or e-mail farmstand@ebfarm.com.

You’ll find our entire Farm Stand Event Calendar online — come visit the farm this season!

FRESH HARVEST

Organic sunflowers
Organic Sunflowers

We’ve had some variably cloudy weather around Carmel Valley lately, but that’s not a worry: we’ve got sunshine growing in our fields! We’re harvesting beautiful organic sunflowers right now, and you can brighten your day (or a friend’s) with some gorgeous yellow blooms for just $6 a bunch, or 3 bunches for $15.

Why choose organic flowers? They’re raised without synthetic chemicals, which often persist on conventional flowers even after you get them home. The beauty of organic flowers is truly sustainable: they’re safer for the environment, for the workers who harvest them, and for everyone who enjoys them.
