Mango and Avocado Salsa
Serves about 2 cups
Every cook has at least one salsa recipe but can always use another in the repertoire. Here creamy avocado teams with sweet mango, a pairing enlivened by jalapeño pepper, chile powder, and fresh lime juice. With its distinctive blend of hot, sweet, salty, and sour, this salsa is a terrific accompaniment to grilled chicken or fish.

1 ripe mango, peeled, pitted, and cut into 1/3-inch dice
1 ripe avocado, preferably Hass, peeled, pitted,
and cut into 1/3-inch dice
1 small jalapeño pepper, finely minced, or to taste
1/4 cup thinly sliced green onions (scallions)
Chile powder, to taste
Salt, to taste
Juice of 1 lime
Place the mango, avocado, jalapeño, and green onions in a medium bowl. Sprinkle the ingredients with chile powder and salt to taste. Add the lime juice and gently toss to combine. The salsa can sit at room temperature for 1 hour before serving. For best flavor, don't refrigerate.
