Stefanie S. Pass the Rolls

Rolls

“A few years ago, it was finally my chance to host the holiday dinner. I was so excited. I spent weeks researching the perfect recipes and inviting all of my friends and family. When the night finally came, I could hardly wait to serve my festive meal.

“I loved watching the faces of my family and friends as they indulged in the delicious feast. Everything was going great until, about 5 minutes into dinner, my brother asked if something was burning. Then a friend said she smelled smoke.

“I ran to the kitchen, and it was filled with smoke. I opened the oven and saw — to my horror — that I’d forgotten the dinner rolls in the oven! The rolls were burnt to a crisp.

“I opened every window to clear out the smoke. Everyone just laughed, but I was so embarrassed. The rest of the evening was saved, and now I host the dinner every year, but my friends always remind me not to forget the rolls!
