General Manager, Carmel Valley Organics

Reports To: CEO

Direct Reports: Executive Chef, Farm Manager, Store Manager, Wholesale Produce Manager

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the managers of day-to-day Carmel Valley farm operations, wholesale delivery route, retail store, and Organic Kitchen to ensure high performance standards and profitable financial results.
  • Manage a team of 4-6 direct reports; provide strong leadership and team building.
  • Oversee timely and accurate completion of general bookkeeping tasks, including A/P, A/R, payroll, monthly/weekly financial reports, etc.
  • Manage comprehensive building development projects, including long-term infrastructure plans.
  • Make recommendations for process improvements based upon industry trends and business objectives.

Educational Background/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management or related field required, MBA preferred.
  • 3-5 years' experience in a similar type of business.
  • Understanding of geenral accounting practices; experience with financial spreadsheets, inventory principles, and database programs.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Commitment to excellence, with the ability to lead through teamwork and team building.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally and influence leadership.
  • Self-directed, with a sense of urgency and ability to handle multiple projects.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including well-developed business acumen.
  • Interest in environmentally conscious business practices a plus.
